Dr Rui Zheng graduated from Renmin University of China in 2006 where he obtained his LL.B degree. He then graduated from Swansea University, UK in 2008 and 2012 where he obtained LLM degree in International Maritime Law (distinction) and PhD degree (in Marine Insurance) respectively.

Dr Rui Zheng was a part-time lecturer at School of Law, Swansea University from 2008 to 2012, teaching English Legal System and English Contract Law. He was also a research fellow at the Institute of International Shipping & Trade Law, Swansea University. He attended International Conferences and Seminars regarding maritime law and insurance law in London and other cities in UK on a regular basis.

Dr Rui Zheng joined Shanghai Maritime University as a lecturer in Maritime Law in April, 2013. He teaches Maritime Law, the Law of Marine Insurance and the Law of Charterparties to both undergraduate and postgraduate students from College of Law, College of Transport & Communications and Merchant Marine College.

Dr Rui Zheng is currently a member of expert group, entrusted by the Ministry of Transport of People’s Republic of China, advising on the issues of improvements and amendments regarding Chinese Maritime Code. Dr Rui Zheng has a very good understanding of both English and Chinese maritime law and is capable of advising almost in every area of maritime law.

Dr Zheng deals particularly with Chinese related legal and consultancy issues in motherland China. He is a correspondent for our office in any kind of litigation, arbitration, mediation issues related to maritime, trade, admiralty, insurance, commercial, corporates and civil law matters in China.
